Quality Goes In Before the Name Goes On

I have always liked the slogan “the quality goes in before the name goes on.” To me, that should be the Christian’s motto when it comes to ministry and outreach. Strive for excellence and attention to detail inside and outside the church and within ministry marketing.
Excellence means you will choose to honor the Lord by striving to put your best efforts into your ministry. In ministry, it is the lack of craving for excellence that keeps ministries from really reaching their communities. Look for excellence, make it your standard and it will show in your work, in how you treat people, in the way your facilities are managed, even in how you do marketing.
There is no shortcut to excellence. You will have to make the commitment to make excellence your priority. The shopworn expression heard among some churches. "It’s good enough for church work" is not the kind of thinking that makes for good ministry marketing. Excellence need not come from a perfectionist mentality. We are not encouraging you to have a "zero tolerance of mistakes" policy. The church is in the business of grace. We believe in the second chance.
It is a terrible mistake for churches to fail to pay attention to details. Whenever we do things we should remember the motto, “Anything worth doing is worth doing well.” This is especially true for ministries. We are serving the Lord and our best efforts should shine forth. In ministry outreach and marketing, attention to detail really matters.
Remember when life is through, we are looking forward to hearing the Lord say, "Well, done my good and faithful servant."

Commit yourself to excellence. Although we can’t be perfect in all we do, we certainly can honor the Lord by being excellent in what we do. We can live by a higher standard and pay attention to the details that really do make the difference.
